1992 TVR Griffith 4.0L |
|
This project will cover the total restoration of a very early TVR Griffith 4.0L Pre-cat. Though basically roadworthy when purchased, it is in need of a full restoration now that the chassis outriggers have corroded to an unsafe state. |

Dont try this at home ! The wheels were only there for a bit of additional stability, the car is sitting quite safely on axle stands. This car has the great colour combination of British Racing Green paint, brown leather and green cloth interior, and the original OZ lattice wheels. Has a great early patina and lovely pre-cat v8 rumble. Up on stands for a quick inspection of the outrigger tubes as we knew they were close to the point of needing replacement.

The dreaded outrigger rot has finally eaten away at the sill tubes until they are no longer safe. Here you can see the material has no residual strength and can be easily prised away. Nothing left but to lift the tub and weld in new steel. |

Early OZ wheels in very good original condition. These really suit the car. |

In good company outside Mat Smiths Sports Cars about to get a brand new cam to resolve lumpy running issues.
More to follow on the restoration as it progresses >> |
